Land Rover currently has selected a venue for revealing its diesel-electric hybrid version of the all-new Range Rover and also the stunning Range Rover Sport. The selected-venue is the 2013 Frankfurt motor show, which will take place in this September. This information was confirmed by the CarSales of Australia that sat down with a leading engineer for the British company, Stuart Firth.
He said that the aforesaid hybrid would be sold in Europe by the end of this 2013. The German auto show will also play host to the revealing of a latest V8 diesel-powered Sport that will receive 700Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.
In addition, the hybrid system will contain a 3liter V6 turbodiesel engine that will be paired to a nice electric motor mounted between the gearbox and the engine. Meanwhile, its batteries would be veiled under the floor. Firth said that the “big” Range Rover would also receive the similar hybrid technology at about the same time.
Nevertheless, the diesel-based hybrid will not make it to the Stateside showrooms, and the American buyers will have to wait for the build of powertrains employing the regular petrol engines.
The information also said that this Sport will apparently receive the 2liter gasoline engine along with 20 hp, just the same as the engine found under the bonnet of the Jaguar XF and Evoque.
